Angelina Jolie is Back

Are you a fan of Angelina Jolie? Her latest film WANTED shows off her action skills much like the one in Mr. and Mrs. Smith wherein she plays a highly skilled assassin with great gun shooting skills. Angelina Jolie plays alongside James McAvoy, the hero in this movie who's life is turned around from a boring life to a life of danger and assassins. Check out the trailer and review here in Moviezen.

Go Watch The Incredible Hulk

Did you have a bad experience watching Hulk? The one which starred Eric Bana in 2003? Are you deliberating if you should watch the new Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton as Dr. Bruce Banner? If so, I suggest you go watch the 2008 version of the Incredible Hulk. It wasn't as great as the Iron Man movie which is a huge success but it wasn't as bad as the first Hulk either. Check out my review here in Moviezen.

Transformers Sequel

The first Transformers series have been a nice movie to watch. I didn't expect to like it because I am not a fan of robots. But, because it was a Michael Bay film and the fact that a lot of people were really recommending me to watch it, I did and I was astounded by how great the effects were. I can't wait to see the sequel to Transformers which still stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro.

Check out details about the sequel to Transformers here in Moviezen.

The Evil Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey is the evil of evils. Whenever he plays the bad guy in movies, I always hate his character. He always does such a good job in portraying the bad guy.

Kevin Spacey plays Prof. Micky Rosa in 21, a card counting movie recently released in 2008. The movie is about 6 MIT students trained by Prof. Micky Rosa on how to beat the Vegas casino dealers in Black Jack. The main character is Jim Sturgess who was also one of the characters in The Other Boleyn Girl. The movie isn’t as exciting as the Ocean’s series and it merely talks about how they do card counting. Please check out my review at Moviezen as to the plot and storyline of the movie 21.

Indiana Jones Is Old

Harrison Ford stars in all of the Indiana Jones movies as well as the current Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. I haven’t watched the 3 previous Indiana Jones movies but I did watch the 2008 Indiana Jones. Please check out my review of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull in the Moviezen site.

Older Indiana Jones movies are:
Indiana Jones and The Temple of the Forbidden Eye (1995)
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (1989)
Indiana Jones and The Temple Of Doom (1984)

As you can see, the movies are spaced out in more than two decades! It's been 24 years since the first Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford was already 42 when he made the first Indiana Jones movie. Now, at 66, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull could be and should be Harrison Ford's last Indiana Jones movie. He's too old for the role but to be fair, he didn't look like a 66 year old Indiana Jones in this 2008 movie. Still, I wasn't impressed with the movie, I wasn't a big fan of Indiana Jones before and still is not a big fan. Check out my rants about the movie here.

LOL movie: What Happens In Vegas

I had a blast watching What Happens In Vegas which stars Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, due to all the laugh out loud moments in the movie. It was a typical romantic comedy that is loved by all girls and surely is a nice movie to catch for a date night. Check out my review of What Happens In Vegas at the Movie Zen site.

I think that the movie is mostly comedy rather that romance so you shouldn't expect to get lots of romantic scenes. But you will surely get lots of laugh out loud scenes especially when Ashton Kutcher is on screen. That guy is just so funny that you can't help but laugh at his words and most of all his facial expressions. Check out the trailer to get a glimpse of what you can expect from What Happens in Vegas.

What Happens In Vegas

What happens when two people meet and get married because of a drunken night? The movie What Happens In Vegas will tell you about it. It’s going to be a lot of fun seeing this romantic comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz.

Romantic comedies have always been fun to watch and will surely be a nice entertainment after a busy week. Check out my blog post in Movie Zen to see my view on watching What Happens In Vegas.

Ashton Kutcher is one of the funniest actors in the industry having been the funny man in the TV series That 70's Show and being the creator, producer, and host of Punk'd. His movies also include Dude Where's My Car and the voice of Elliot in Open Season. Watch the Trailer also to give you an idea of what the movie is about. You’ll surely be laughing just watching the trailer!

Watch Iron Man!

Iron Man is a superhero movie which stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, etc and this movie has been talked about months before its theatrical release but I didn’t understand what the hype is all about. First of all, I didn’t think Robert Downey Jr. fit the role of Iron Man because of his real crazy past. But I was glad I watched Iron Man because he did a great job with his wisecracking humor and his acting skills all through out the movie. Check out my complete review in the Moviezen Blog.

There are two things that really made me appreciate the movie. First of all, the CG (computer graphics) used in the movie was way to cool and I haven’t seen another movie yet that sports that level of technology. The way the movie was presented didn’t look too much of a fully loaded computer graphic movie and it kind of looked realistic (except when Iron Man and Iron Monger were fighting). The way Iron Man was suiting up was just awesome and the detail shown was phenomenal. After watching the movie, you will ask yourself, when that level of technology will be available to the consumers. It’s super cool but still realistic.

The second thing I liked about the movie is the humor. At first I didn’t think that a superhero movie plus comedy will work because Iron Man looks like a serious superhero character. But the humor was really funny and I kept on laughing all through out the movie because even the smallest bit of scene was funny albeit irrelevant.

Looks like there will be an Iron Man 2 with the way the movie ended and I am looking forward to watching it!

Street Kings

Street Kings, which stars Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans and a lot more, is a good cop movie. Essentially, the plot was executed well and the actors fit their roles perfectly. Keanu Reeves was able to portray his character as a confused but ultimately effective cop. Check out my complete movie review here.

Forbidden Kingdom... Not That Good

I believe that The Forbidden Kingdom was a hit because two great Kung Fu Masters were starring in that film. Jackie Chan and Jet Li teamed up in a movie for the first time and I think the producers used this well. I know that this is enough to make people go to the movie, but I’m not sure if this enough to sustain your interest all throughout the movie. Check out my review on this movie in Moviezen.

One thing that really annoyed me was the forming of the names of Jackie Chan and Jet Li together using the letter J as a connector. The first time I saw it in the movie poster; I thought it was weird especially for a Hollywood film because it just shrieks amateur to do it that way. I think there should have been a better way of presenting it without making Jet Li’s name an afterthought. Because the way it was written, you don’t see Jet Li’s name immediately. You only see it because you think that something is hanging there on the side that just catches your attention. That’s when you see Jet Li’s name.

I thought it was forgivable to do it in the movie poster, but they incorporated it into the introduction of the movie! Ugh! I think it would have been better to just flash their names side by side. I think they did it that way because they are trying to incorporate the Chinese and Western culture together. Chinese words are usually written vertically as opposed to the horizontal way of writing English. But it just doesn’t work! Similarly, making the ancient Chinese people speak English is surely a disastrous and hilarious way of fusing the two cultures. Again, it doesn’t work!

Watch The Forbidden Kingdom if you like great Kung Fu stunts and choreography. Surely, that’s one thing they did right! But if you are looking for depth in the plot, you will be disappointed and you will just find yourself both annoyed and amused with the way the Chinese characters are delivering their English lines!

Doomsday

Doomsday starring Rhona Mitra is a quality entertainment! You can see different "eras" in one movie! There is a punk rock era, old Scottish era, and modern futuristic era! How cool is that! The setting and costumes of the actors and actresses are appropriate and makes the movie experience more realistic and pulls you into the movie. Check out my article Doomsday: A Quality Entertainment to find out more about the movie!

Seventh Harry Potter Book Split Into Two Movies

Harry Potter fans are delighted when the makers of the Harry Potter movies decided to split the seventh book into two. It's their way of creating more revenue for the last Harry Potter book and also their way of satisfying the Harry Potter fans. Check out my article about how the makers of the Harry Potter movies will be making a lot of money by splitting the book into two movies.

Keanu Reeves' Back In Action

Can you remember Keanu Reeves’ last action movie? It’s been a while but it definitely is one of those movies that were often talked about. His last action movie was Constantine in 2005. My take on it is that Keanu fit the role of John Constantine perfectly, which is why it was a top box office hit! Well, he was also cast as Neo in the Matrix Trilogy and we all know how well those movies turned out. He will be next seen in the new action-movie Street Kings that has a highly effective trailer and will surely be a hit in theaters soon. Watch the trailer now!

Fool's Gold really is a fool's gold!

Have you watched Fool's Gold yet?

Fool's Gold stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in a romantic comedy with a treasure hunting, action-adventure plot. Hudson plays a frustrated history scholar while McConaughey is a treasure hunter. She is in the process of divorcing him when he discovers a fragment of a plate that may lead to an 18th century treasure-ship wreck. Then their adventure begins along with the rekindling of their love.

Although there were funny moments in Fool's Gold, I was often spacing out during the movie. I think it was because the movie had so much dialog in it. I believe that they would have done a better job of "telling" the story of the treasure if they used clips, pictures, or a re-enactment rather than the lead characters' narration of what happened. It was a very long "what happened to the treasure" story which is not easy to follow with all the different Spanish characters and the convoluted plot. Also, the actors' facial expression and mannerism s were just a tad bit too trying hard to make the story exciting. It was boring and annoying.

The action-adventure part of the movie was not very exciting which failed to live up to the promising plot. Much like a fool's gold! What's a fool's gold? Well, according to Merriam Webster, it's any of various pyritic minerals resembling gold. It just resembles gold but is actually worthless, just the same with the movie Fool's Gold.

10,000 B.C.

I watched 10,000 B.C. simply because of lack of alternative. At first, the movie was just okay for me. There are some romance bit, some funny bits here and there, but it was mostly a very shallow movie. The casting and makeup are not realistic of the era they are portraying. It just screams Hollywood version of a movie set in 10,000 B.C. Just great looking actors and actresses (Steven Strait as D'Leh and Camilla Belle as Evolet) but they really did not have that much grasp and understanding of what the people during that era are supposed to act or sound like.

10,000 BC is similar to the movie 300. I am talking about the "spear throwing" scene wherein D'Leh threw a spear to kill the The Pyramid God, the head enemy. Of course it was done in slow motion so all I can think of is "Oh my god, it's probably going to fall short or it probably won't kill the enemy, just like in 300!" And then the spear hit the Pyramid God and the he falls down the flight of stairs without any grace at all! I was simply stunned because I can't believe that his role was just finished like that. I thought he would have done some other evil thing to make the story have more depth and plot. Sadly, the highlight of his role is his falling down the stairs and tumbling just a tad bit too long.

The last scene just screams of a Hollywood ending when Evolet died and came alive again. It was a classic Hollywood ending of the hero and heroine ending up together and living happily ever after. They shouldn't have killed Evolet in the first place. It was a lame attempt to give the plot a twist!

Anyway, the main conclusion is, the movie plot and story was not very good. I simply liked the setting and the fact that it tells of a story during 10,000 BC and we can get a glimpse of what was life then.
